Danish Ocean Cluster Launched at a Successful Event in Hirtshals

On September 25, 2025, the Danish Ocean Cluster was officially launched at a successful Kick-Off Event at the North Sea Science Park in Hirtshals. More than 40 participants contributed to the initiation of the cluster, which focuses on circular business thinking and sustainable development in the blue sector.

Thor Sigfusson, PhD, from the Iceland Ocean Cluster, attended as a guest speaker and shared inspiring examples from Iceland’s innovative blue economy. Chairman of the Board Linn Indrestrand highlighted North Atlantic business relations and upcoming projects in Hirtshals Harbor, while Secretariat Director Mette Hyldgaard Roussis spoke about the cluster’s unique role in the maritime sector.

The Danish Ocean Cluster is also participating in a Nordic project examining the need for maritime capital to support the sustainable transition of fisheries and maritime industries.
